Entertaining, Engaging, Evolving

At Coastal Digital Marketing, we believe Grassroots marketing is about making connections with people, not just broadcasting messages.

We make connections through permission-based Emails, web and social ads, social media conversations, physical promotion, and physical pamphlets. We don’t believe in blasting millions of emails to a wide distribution list.

We find a deeper bond by a connection between a single person or a group of people at a time.

A Face-to-Face connection can be more powerful than any web presence and we will help you stay on the radar and make a genuine connection with people across many scales – connecting people – creating a buzz – thus creating Excitement.

Our marketing team calls this The 6 W’s,
We believe – We engage – We excite – We move – We mingle – We connect.

We use our unique “grassroots marketing” approach to generate sales, create brand advocates, build customer relationships, generate leads, or simply increase awareness.

Our approach is backed up by extensive research, development, testing and implementation. We marry the best of traditional marketing with the best of the digital world.

Ultimately, we help you connect with your customers in a way that is authentic, relevant, persuasive, engaging and measurable.

Engagement is not synonymous with virality. If you want to stand out from the crowd, creativity is key!

Whether you’re looking to get a slew of shares or let your community in on a hidden gem that only a few people in your circle know about, if you can master the art of making your posts share-worthy then you’ll be at the top of your marketing game, and poised for success.

Influencer Marketing is the new buzzword in the marketing industry. It is a form of marketing strategy in which a famous person or a group is paid to promote a product in a non-promotional way.

It is very effective in reaching out to the target audience. The best part of working with influencers is that they deliver authentic and specific content to the targeted audience.

It is also cost-effective and can be more effective than regular marketing strategies.

What your business needs to know about the social media landscape:

Are you on all of the major platforms? What is your strategy? Is it working or are they ineffective? Do you have a comprehensive plan in place for growing your audience and reaching them with messages that are most likely to be responded to favourably?

Branding and Identity
What do you stand for? How do people perceive your business? Are you presenting an image that matches the way you want to be perceived?

Do your colours, fonts, tag lines and tone of voice reflect who you are and what makes your business unique? Are they attracting the right kind of attention?

Developing a brand identity is one of the most important things you can do because it will have a direct impact on how people perceive your business. We have worked with many businesses to come up with their brand image and get them noticed in the crowded marketplace.

It’s not just about the logo. A brand needs to be built on core values, messaging and an engaging user experience across all platforms.

Social Media Marketing FAQ's

Social media marketing is a form of internet marketing that involves the promotion of brands or products using social media platforms.

It can also be defined as “a strategic marketing approach focused on garnering customer interest and involvement through the use of social networks” or “using online tools to construct, manage, execute, measure, and monitor a marketing campaign.”

Social media marketing plans differ from traditional marketing in that they focus on the specific actions that one might take to get more of a target market’s attention.

It is about understanding and being where your audience is, what it wants, and how you can connect with or influence them through different platforms. It is also about being present where your customers are. Social media marketing includes promoting content on social networks, buying ads to promote products through social media channels, “tweeting” or “pinning” items of interest to the community, and creating original content that might be shared by others.

Social networking sites are an important platform for social media marketing. Social networking sites allow individuals to post information about themselves for public viewing. Businesses can use these websites as platforms to connect with current customers and potential clients. These websites can also be used to entertain the audience through games, music or videos.

Social media has become an essential tool for any business whether you’re a small startup or a large corporation. It provides companies with the opportunity to engage directly with their customers, listen to feedback and build relationships that can transform them into loyal clients.

Aside from the obvious benefits of social media marketing including brand awareness and increased sales, there are other benefits you may not be aware of.

Social media can help in the search engine rankings of your website. Social signals such as likes and shares can improve your Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and increase the number of visitors to your site. Some social networks, such as Facebook, have a very high impact on SEO results.

That depends on your goals. If you want to spread awareness for your business, then Facebook and Instagram are great platforms for you. But if you’re building a community around a specific project, like an upcoming event or product release, then Discord is likely the best choice.

Whatever platform(s) you choose, make sure your content is consistent across them. If you post an update on Facebook and then never follow up, followers will be confused about the state of your business or event.

We all know that timing is everything in content marketing. In fact, according to a study conducted by Hubspot, “a staggering 70% of marketers say their primary challenge with content strategy is not having the right content at the right time”.

Social media users aren’t looking for an onslaught of unplanned and unorganised promotions. Instead, we want consistency and familiarity with what we consider to be good content: articles and pictures you can relate to and learn from.

The same goes for social media: if you don’t have time to post every few hours, then there’s no rush! If you’re someone who has little patience for social media or likes to keep things low-key, jump onto your favourite platform once three days a week and post something interesting.

Whether it’s a photo of your lunch or information about an upcoming event or sale; make sure it has a purpose!

As well as using a calendar to remind us of important dates and times, we also use a suite of Google-based tools to provide a place for the team to store any relevant information that might help with social media. We also use Adobe products like Photoshop and Illustrator to help us create new images or edit existing ones.

A post is the content you share on social media for your followers to see organically. An ad is a paid promotion of that post to strategically target an audience outside of your followers based on demographics and interests.

Because the algorithms that most social media platforms follow typically limit the number of users who can see your business’ content organically, we recommend promoting meaningful or relevant posts to guarantee more people will see them.

One great indicator of a post that should be promoted is one that performs well organically. If it’s doing well on its own, putting money behind it will increase its reach.

Paid advertising goes by many names on different social channels, but in the end, it’s really just a fancy way to market your products or services.

On each platform, you can set up a paid post directly from the post to boost engagement, or create a more advanced ad through the social channel’s advertising platform.

Instagram and Facebook

Boosting a post is the most basic form of advertising you can use on Facebook. If you boost a post on your business page, more people will see it in their news feed. Promoted or boosted posts are typically used when the goal is to increase audience engagement such as post likes, shares and comments. We recommend boosting posts that already work well naturally (ie: high engagement rates). Just make sure to always keep your content relevant to your target market!

Facebook is a habit that ranges from senior citizens all the way up to those in their early 20’s. The 18-49 age bracket has the highest usage, and women typically post more frequently than men.

Twitter enables users to check the news, discuss topics that are trending or just to keep up with brands that they are interested in. 18-29 age demographic are the most engaged Twitter users. Twitter is one of the few social platforms where there are more men than women.

Instagram is a great platform for businesses which have products or services that can be captured in a compelling visual. While there are many male followers, there are also many more female followers. Most of the Instagram users who follow businesses are 34 years old or younger.

In july 2021, 71.1% of Pinterest users were female. Pinterest users are more highly educated than users of other social media sites.
Pinterest users are more likely to respond to a brand through a social platform.

Pinterest calls pinning a ‘re-pin’ and it’s a way for users to share images they like with their community. Images are gathered through the use of ‘pins’ which are placed on virtual boards. When pinning is complete, users can choose who they would like to see the pin. Users can also choose whether they want to share the pin publicly, privately or whether they want to keep the pin for themselves.

The more pins you have, the higher your profile is on Pinterest and the more people will see your pins. When you pin an image, it will give you the option to also pin the original source.
If you pin an image from another user, you are encouraged to ‘repin’ other images from that user.

Pinterest is unique in the sense that it is visual.
If you are trying to build your Pinterest business, you need to be adding images that are high quality.

YouTube is the 2nd largest search engine in the world. It’s used by more people each day than Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and Pinterest, combined. It’s also the second largest social network in the world.

People are watching 4 billion hours of video content on YouTube every month. That’s the equivalent of 1,500,000 years of video watched in a month.

The average person spends 55 minutes a day on YouTube, since Google is the most popular search engine in the world, this means that YouTube is the 2nd most popular search engine after Google. 95% of YouTube views come from outside of the US.

YouTube is available in 76 different languages.

Users spend more time watching YouTube than any other single property in the Google ecosystem.

YouTube is the #1 search engine for finding product information. Founders of big brands like Wayfair, Birchbox, Dollar Shave Club, Casper, Dollar General, and Harry’s all use YouTube to promote their businesses.
